Birg mich, Cilli! - Bavarian Forest - Germany

Peter Haimerl converted a ruinous farmhouse from the 30ies.
In this times farmers of the bavarian forest were really poor. Ignorance and lacking appreciation to those old houses resulted that this kind of architectonic tradition mostly disappeard.
But Peter Haimerl made a concept to keep the house. He did not touch the farmhouse from the outside and placed three new concrete boxes in the old farmerhouse.
The concrete he used is heat-insulating.
Peter Haimerl also cutted big openings in the new boxes in every direction, so that the new inner room stays in touch with the old farmhouse and kind of frames it.
The new house is Peter Haimerl’s private holiday home.
